Dear Trader Joe's,
Please don't let me buy your Baked Cheese Crunchies anymore. Despite the fact that they are "33% less fat than regular cheese crunchies," it is unhelpful when you place the serving size as 33 crunchies. They are all different sizes! Which is the size with which you compare the others? Cup sizes are a better choice - "Serving size: 1/2 cup" would be easier to understand than "33 crunchies."
...especially when a serving size is really more like the entire bag. At least for me.
So please - put my picture up or something and don't let me leave the store with any more, especially at your great low price of $1.59.
Sincerely,
Miss President

I want them all.
Some of you may remember that three (eek!) years ago at this time my sweetheart took me to the Chocolate Show in NYC. It was an amazing and overwhelming experience of chocolatey goodness.
This past weekend, my aunt was in Manhattan and my mom went in to have some sister-time with her. They actually took my suggestion and went to the chocolate show as well! Being fellow chocoholics they too enjoyed it thoroughly.
Anyway, one of the brochures that my mom brought home was for a chocolatier in Salem, Massachusetts... so very near my old stomping grounds! Bloomsberry & Co. makes an amazingly fun array of chocolate bars - I could buy a specific one for each person on my Christmas list!
Here are a few of my favorites....

So so funny. When I am next in Massachusetts, I will most definitely be stopping by. :)
Mmmmmmm.

Yum Yum Yum....
My friend Chris gave me this recipe. She's made it several times for different barbecues and the like, and I finally got to try the recipe myself. I'll be bringing it to my sister's house for a family get-together tomorrow.
It's a Weight Watchers recipe, but everyone will like it - it doesn't taste low-fat. :)
COLD SESAME NOODLES
6 ounces chow mein noodles or spaghetti (I used lo mein noodles)
1/3 cup reduced fat smooth peanut butter
1/3 cup water
3 tablespoons of ketchup
2 tablespoons of hoisin sauce
2 tablespoons reduced sodium soy sauce
2 tablespoons packed light brown sugar
1 tablespoon rice wine vinegar
1 tablespoon Asian (dark) sesame oil
2 scallions, chopped
1. Cook the noodles/spaghetti according to the package instructions; drain, rinse with cold water and set aside.
2. In a small saucepan, combine the peanut butter, water, ketchup, hoisin sauce, soy sauce, brown sugar, vinegar and oil. Bring to a boil over medium high heat, stirring constantly, until well mixed. Remove from heat and cool about 10 minues.
3. Toss noodles with the sauce, sprinkle with scallions and serve. (I would refrigerate it first to let it cool and meld, but that's me... it's also excellent the next day.)
Makes 8 Servings (For midgets, as Chris says!)
Points value of 4 for a 1/3 cup serving.

Free, free, wheeeeeeee!
If you know me at all, you know I love a bargain... and something free is even better.
Tomorrow, April 15th, is tax day. And Dunkin' Donuts has something for each of us.... a free donut! I already have plans to get a coffee. Maybe I'll get a chocolate glazed and eat just half. :)
Coming soon.... Free Scoop Night on 4/29 and 31-Cent Scoop Night on the 30th! (I'll have to do a lot of Zumba to burn that off!)

I heart love chocolate
I needed some chocolate today. So I bought some on my way home from my doctor's appointment. I got this:

I'd seen this at the Chocolate Show that I went to in New York a few years go. It's a very nice chocolate that has both traditional and unusual flavors... and I love the fact that it has a love poem inside! Check it out - Chocolove!

Christmas Vacation... part 3: Morocco!
On Saturday night, Matt and I met up with Marisa and Eric for dinner. I've known Marisa since we worked together at my previous teaching job, and we've managed to keep the friendship going! She is a sweetheart and we all had a wonderful time - the boys exchanging jokes in their best Scottish accents, Marisa and I bellydancing (yes!!) in the restaurant, enjoying amazing Moroccan food and good company.
We went to Marakesh in Parsippany - smaller than I thought it would be, but cool - you sit on couches and are encouraged to eat with your hands! There was a bellydancer and live music, too... loud, but a lot of fun. If you remember back in February of 2006, M & I went to a fantastic Moroccan eatery in... Morocco. In Epcot. It was amazing and we ate so much food that we were still full the next morning! I tried to take him to this place (or one in the city) for his birthday, but we never got to go... at least we went now!
It was great to get to see Marisa and Eric and hang out... we want to do it again soon!
(Marisa - I want some of your pictures!) More pictures are here.

Yummy soup
When it gets cold like this, I tend to want something warm and comforting to eat. Soup like this fits the bill nicely, is easy to make, and freezes well. I found the recipe in one of my mom's magazines, and I share it with you!
Carol's Carrot and Dill Soup
1 pound carrots (about 2.5 cups)
1 medium onion
2 cups water
2 cups low-fat chicken broth
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon fennel seeds
1 bunch fresh dill (about 2 tablespoons)
Peel carrots and cut into 1/2 inch coins. Peel and chop onion. In a 2.5-quart saucepan, bring carrots, onion, water, broth, salt and fennel seeds to a boil. Lower heat and simmer, covered, 30 to 40 minutes till carrots are very tender.
While carrots are cooking, rinse and chop dill, reserving several sprigs for garnish. Add dill to cooked carrots and, using great care, puree in two batches in a blender. If you plan to serve the soup cold, let it cool in the pan first. Garnish with fresh dill.
(Recipe from Guideposts magazine, Sept. 2007)
This time, I put in less onion (we don't like a ton) and instead put in a big spoonful of chopped garlic. Next time, I think I might try fresh ginger instead of dill (and perhaps the onion.)
