Strangeness of the "Recently Viewed" List...

While reading the online visual (addictive) disaster People of WalMart, I clicked a link to see their new book on Amazon.com... and laughed when I saw my recently viewed books:

1. People of WalMart: Shop and Awe (this was the reason I noticed the others)
2. A Tree Grows In Brooklyn (a classic and a favorite!)
3. Pickle Pickle Pickle Juice (I hear it's a great children's book!)
4. Birthing a Better Way: 12 Secrets for Natural Childbirth
(A friend had a link for it on their facebook page and I was curious)
5. Raising Your Spirited Child (again, on a friend's reading list)

Don't read into this list - I am NOT pregnant!! I'm just curious about what friends are reading. Only two of these (the top two) were things I looked up for myself. I just think it is a funny and random list!

Want to win some chips?

Dana, a girl I went to school with in the ye-olde days, writes a blog about her life called Lil Family Blog
She is very enterprising and has recently been having some cool contests on her blog. A lot of them are for babies and kids, which don't help me much right now, but some are cool for all types of people!

This one looks tasty... I hope I win! Read Dana's post for the details:  click here!

(This picture is not mine. If it's yours, let me know and I'll take it down.)

The company's website: http://www.foodshouldtastegood.com/

Take a look for yourself. If you enter, please let me know (I'll get another vote!)   Good Luck!  :)

Ten Things, after a very long time.

Hello. I don't know if anyone reads this anymore, or if it's fallen off of blog-reading lists or whatnot. It appears I don't even have comments anymore, which makes me sad that such things are lost. Ah, well. C'est La Vie... or something like that. :)

So here I am, with Ten things that come to my head right now. Just text, nothing Fancy.

Ten things that I am enjoying right now.

One: The birds that are having a squwalky conversation outside my window.

Two: The quiet around me that allows me the opportunity to hear the birds.

Three: The pictures of a wonderful getaway and visit with a very dear friend.

Four: The hopeful expectancy of the volunteer plant outside yielding a pumpkin in a few months.

Five: Savoring the lack of a time restriction.

Six: The fact that I have all I need, even though I do still worry about it.

Seven: Enjoying being alone in this moment, while also looking forward to being with others.

Eight: Small accomplishments, which are better than no accomplishments at all.

Nine: Quiet. I know I said it before, but for some reason, it is resounding with me right now.

Ten: Knowing there is coffee in the pot, food in the fridge, and money in the bank.

George in Italy

When I worked at the bank (during what seems like a lifetime ago!) I became a really big fan of "Where's George?" a website devoted to tagging and tracking currency. I saw lots of "Georges" come through the bank and would input them into the system as I got them, often exchanging bills that I had for those so that I could send them back into circulation myself.

It's not often that you get an email that informs you of another person inputting your bill.... but I got one this weekend. Take a look and see where it's been! I must say that I'm a bit jealous of Mr. Jackson (it was a twenty, of course!)

Where did George go?

Ugh. Pass the Pepto... I have a bellyache.

Dear Trader Joe's,

Please don't let me buy your Baked Cheese Crunchies anymore. Despite the fact that they are "33% less fat than regular cheese crunchies," it is unhelpful when you place the serving size as 33 crunchies. They are all different sizes! Which is the size with which you compare the others? Cup sizes are a better choice - "Serving size: 1/2 cup" would be easier to understand than "33 crunchies."

...especially when a serving size is really more like the entire bag. At least for me.

So please - put my picture up or something and don't let me leave the store with any more, especially at your great low price of $1.59.

Sincerely,
Miss President

I smelled a stuffed animal in line at the bank, because that's how I roll.

So I found this over on that little cultural phenomena called Facebook and decided to post it here instead. Basically, you take the fragments that correspond with different things and piece them together to make an exceptionally random sentence.

Pick the month you were born:
January-------I kicked
February------I loved
March--------I karate chopped
April----------I licked
May----------I jumped on
June----------I smelled
July-----------I did the Macarena With
August--------I had lunch with
September----I danced with
October-------I sang to
November-----I yelled at
December-----I ran over

Pick the day (number) you were born on:
1-------a birdbath
2-------a monster
3-------a phone
4-------a fork
5-------a snowman
6-------a gangster
7-------my mobile phone
8-------my dog
9-------my best friends' boyfriend
10-------my neighbour
11-------my science teacher
12-------a banana
13-------a fireman
14-------a stuffed animal
15-------a goat
16-------a pickle
17-------your mom
18-------a spoon
19------ - a smurf
20-------a baseball bat
21-------a ninja
22-------Chuck Norris
23-------a noodle
24-------a squirrel
25-------a football player
26-------my sister
27-------my brother
28-------an iPod
29-------a surfer
30-------a homeless guy
31-------a llama

What is the last number of the year you were born:
1--------- In my car
2 --------- On your car
3 ----------- In a hole
4 ----------- Under your bed
5 ----------- Riding a Motorcycle
6 --------- sliding down a hill
7 --------- in an elevator
8---------- at the dinner table
9 -------- In line at the bank
0 -------- in your bathroom

Pick the color of shirt you are wearing:
White---------because I'm cool like that
Black---------because that's how I roll.
Pink-----------because I'm NOT crazy.
Red-----------because the voices told me to.
Blue-----------because I'm sexy and I do what I want
Green---------because I think I need some serious help.
Purple---------because I'm AWESOME!
Gray----------because Big Bird said to and he's my leader.
Yellow--------because someone offered me 1,000,000 dollars
Orange--------because my family thinks I'm stupid anyway.
Brown---------because I can.
Other----------because I'm a Ninja!
None----------because I can't control myself!

I smelled a stuffed animal in line at the bank, because that's how I roll.

I'd be curious to see what you get stuck with!

In other news... this is my SIX HUNDREDTH POST. Woah. I have had an awful lot of nothing to say!

I guess I'm pretty needy!

I just did one of those Internet search things where you put in your first name and the word "needs" into a Google search to see what you come up with. You're supposed to choose ten of those responses. They are especiallyamusing, given the fact that several major Hollywood players have my name!! Here we go... and with my own commentary, to boot! (oh, the procrastination!)

I need a smack daddy. (!!!)

I need to play by the rules. (And whose rules might that be?)

I need to give birth in the next week. (um.... NO??!?!? But maybe Becky does!)

I need to accept that [I've] gained what looks like some major pounds. (Ouch!)

I need a shave. (perhaps I need TO shave?)

I need to take out the trash, but doesn't know where it is. (yes, I do!)

I need 2 1/2 cups of sugar to make cookies for 15 people. (or just one fiance???)

I need a muzzle. (Maybe some of you think so!)

I need your prayers for my Dad. (This one is sad, thank God mine isn't sick!!)

I need to date men [my] age. (um... no. I'm taken, thank you very much!)

Haha!

TheKnot.com

It's pretty funny that The Knot lets you play with this. It's like paper dolls for grown-ups! I personally like the fact that I could put sparkles everywhere. It makes "me" look shiny. :)

NOTE: My dress doesn't actually look like this. They only give you so many options as to what you can use. So don't worry about not being surprised or anything later.

Creativity on a Sick Day

As I sit here at home in my robe and slippers on a Thursday, I discovered this on my dear friend Alisa's blog - joterella.com - and had to share.

Click here and be creative... be sure to click the mouse as you paint. Enjoy!

Musical hilarity... from a church?

I had this sent to me in an email this weekend and laughed and laughed. Brilliant.

In other news, I do still exist. I just have sporradic internet accessibility at the moment and am so busy with school concerts and personal concerts and the like. I sang in two concerts this weekend and they went well, except for the fact that I had a bit of a driving adventure tonight. More on that soon, hopefully with a picture!

Enjoy the laugh! I hope to update more in the near future! :)

Nelson Mandela, Dali Lama, Ghandi and Me???

I just took The Political Compass Test. I did it on a curious whim. I found the results interesting.

Economic Left/Right: -4.75
Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: -4.46

I'm supposedly "near" the men listed above. Interesting. Comments??

I could survive for 54 seconds chained to a bunk bed with a velociraptor

Thank you, Alisa (aka jot.erella) for this distraction. I'm proud that I would make it that long!

Brilliant. Absolutely Brilliant.

I love Lego Star Wars. It's funny enough on its own. But this is just the icing on the cake.

Food for thought for a Tuesday

Words that are running through my head at the moment... and with which I agree. Often the people who think they are the most important really aren't, and we need to remember that!!

Many a truest word
has been spoken by the Jester
Standing against the tide
Is the noblest of gestures
It’s the little pearls of wisdom
That tumble from the light
That makes us laugh until we cry
Because we know that they are right!

"Company of Fools" from Fortune's Favour
written by Alan Doyle and Russell Crowe (Yes, that Russell Crowe! I was surprised by it when I looked it up!)

I am a tortoise?

Do you remember the story of the tortoise and the hare?

Slow and steady wins the race.

I wonder who I am. I have more behaviors like the hare... easily distracted, wanting to take a nap, impatient. But I do (eventually!) get things done, albeit often through stubbornness or with help. Does that make me more like the tortoise, then? Since things do get done slowly?

Hmmm.

I heart flip-flips and I've got skills.

Two conversations from the past two days. They both made me laugh.

In the car the other night...

Me: I'm a goody two-shoes.
Matt: Oh, you have more than two shoes!
Me: Yeah, I have more than two... and an army of flip-flops.
Matt: You do have lots of flip-flops.
Me: I heart flip-flops!

Today, a conversation with a second grader at lunchtime...

Girl: You were playing the piano this morning.
Me: Yes, I was.
Girl: You play really good... cause you got skills.
Me: Thank you.
Girl: And you didn't choose the piano... the piano chose you.

I'd like to thank the Academy...

Marisa of "The True and Tall Tales of My Fantastic and Brilliant Life" nominated me for this award. It doesn't seem to signify anything except a hoax!, but it's certainly cool that she decided I deserved one! (Award, not hoax!) I guess I'll take awards no matter how I get them. :)
Supposedly, there are "rules:"

*Put the logo on your blog.
*Add a link to the person who awarded you.
*Nominate at least seven other blogs.
*Add links to those blogs on your blog.
*Leave a message for your nominee on their blogs.

Despite the hoax stigma, I will nominate people purely because, in my mind, they DO deserve awards. Take it if you want, but other than that, you are welcome to simply enjoy the nomination. I will not, however, nominate seven people. Just the people I want to. So there. ;p

Rebecca of World Wide Wood (Best use of craftiness)

Kate of My life - as I know it - (Bravest - she's moving to Texas!)

"Dolphin" of Jewels - (Brand new "Mommy Blogger")

Eleni of Len's Thoughts - (Literary and Musical diva extrordinaire)

There is always time for shoes...

...even when you're supposed to be doing schoolwork. ;)

These are my new sandals... they are Birki's Tahiti Paisley Rose. My first pair of Birkenstocks ever. They came home with me from the Windmill in upstate New York. Yay.
