Just in Case You Need To Know....

A work colleague of mine told me a story today that needed to be shared. Some of her students wanted to know about her personal life - is she married, etc. She said no, she was not married, and no, was not getting married in May (supposedly this was "what they'd heard."). When they found out that she was currently single, they wanted to set her up with the gym teacher... also single. (And buff, according to the 5th grade girls).

One boy decided to tell her "HOW TO GET A GUY TO MARRY YOU."
I thought that this was information that is necessary to share with all of the single girls out there.

Here it is:
A choco taco and four dollars. (as a tip.)Obviously, getting a guy to marry you does NOT involve love. And why is he being given a $4 tip?

ROCK ON, little friend!

The other week, I bought myself a pair of earrings in one of those teeny-bopper accessory stores. They made me laugh and seemed like something I could totally get away with wearing at work.

Today was the first day I wore them, and oh... they were a huge hit! But the best part was when a third grader came up to me and said, "Those are Les Paul guitar earrings!"

Oh, obviously devoted Guitar Hero player, yes they are! Little does he know that my Guitar Hero band's lead singer plays a sunburst. These earrings don't look quite like that one, though - they are pink and sparkly. ;) This new Les Paul Goddess model is pretty cool, I must say. If I ever learn to play the guitar well, then maybe I can someday rock out with something like this!

Do you know where I put my.......?

I've been losing work things lately. People tell me this is a sign of stress. (no, really?)
I lost a CD at school. I lost another CD at another school. I lost a teaching mag/CD that I bought with my own money.

And so, I stress about it. I looked into how much it would cost to get a replacement magazine... $30 plus shipping, which isn't as bad as I thought. The one CD I lost can't be replaced without a big big hassle... so I will have to burn a new copy of it if I can't find it. The other CD costs about $45, I think. (It's an accompaniment CD and those are tres expensive.) All in all, stressworthy, I think. I could potentially be out $75+ out of pocket and miss out on things that I could do with the stuff while I don't have it.

I've actually had a full night of anxiety dreams about the magazine, and last night I found myself dreaming about one of the CDs and potential places it could be. So I dug through a pile of stuff at school and found a CD... not the one I was looking for, but another I didn't need right now. But what was underneath it? The CD I lost. Relief! I don't need to spend $45!

So then I had a doctor's appointment today and had a few minutes in the waiting room... so I looked through her magazines. There was my magazine!! (I thought I left it there last week, but when I called them and asked them to look, they said it wasn't around.) Yay! I was worried someone walked off with it if they realized what it was. But it was happily sitting in a pile, intact.
So happy I don't have to replace what is already mine!

Now if I can just find the un-replaceable CD I'll be golden - in terms of work, anyway.
...until I lose something else.
It's the curse of the moving-around type of job. Things have a way of vanishing.

... too much stuff to try to keep together. Both at work and school. Most of the time I am just hanging on by my fingernails! Ahh!

You learn something new every day...

Today I learned how to spin plates. At work.

The gym teacher has a unit on Circus Skills and teaches things such as plate spinning and juggling. Being naturally curious, I had to try it.

So now, if I DO run away and join the circus, at least I have a skill. Which is good, since my elephant-riding dreams have been shattered by the cold truth that they train the elephants through fear. Grr.

(ps: I love the dress in the picture. I would totally wear that.)

Do you think I'm Super-girl?

First, a disclamer. This is written during Holiday Concert Craziness. Thank you.

How am I expected to turn the world on its head by Friday? I have a budget (which I got today) that I need to return on Friday. And plans for this week and next week, also due Friday. And another budget will be handed to me tomorrow, to be returned probably on Friday as well. And a jam-packed chaotic day of work tomorrow, followed by a dinner which I must attend. And preparation for two concerts back-to-back on Wednesday and Thursday. And a program to finish.

Do I look like I can leap tall buildings in a single bound?

AAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!

And to top it off, yesterday I had thousands of dollars worth of drug injected into my arm which could still put me into anaphylaxis within the next 24 hours, so I'm carrying an EpiPen. (Although the fact that I didn't react during the 2 hours I spent in the Dr's office is a good indicator that I'll be fine.) The drug will hopefully be a blessing, though - but they do their best to scare the poop out of you before they inject you, just so you're aware. Then they teach you how to stab yourself with the EpiPen just in case you do react. Woo.

And I'm stress eating. Oh, the carb and chocolate cravings.

Maybe I can be you for a change?

But now I am going to bed.

AHHHHHH

I am buried under mountains of to-do lists and my head is fuzzy from all of the faces and places and paperwork and whatnot - some of which I still have yet to experience! You might not hear from me for a while... so much to do and the remnants of a summer mindset to internally argue with. Ah, September rears her ugly head.

Don't get me wrong, my job is good once everything settles down. It's just the chaos until then that makes me a little batty!

Weekend Adventuring?

The best laid plans of mice and men.... (or something like that)

Considering someone's birthday is coming up next week, I had been planning a birthday adventure to take place yesterday. I had several activities in mind, and was pretty excited about it. I had even toyed with the idea of going to Brooklyn today for the 17 of May Parade.  But once I realized that I was getting sick, I sadly came to the realization that there would be no adventure, at least not this weekend. Bah.

But I will provide a health update... I bumbled through work on Thursday and Friday, feeling crummy but functional. Friday evening I started to get chills, but no fever... but by bedtime I had 102f. So, in the morning, it was back to the doctor. Luckily the fever broke during the night.

He changed my antibiotic. To a really big one. (yikes) And sent me for an x-ray, which for some strange reason my insurance won't cover at the office. So, it was off to the hospital. No, no - not the ER again. This time as an outpatient for an x-ray only. Thanks to some connections I have at the hospital, I was able to head over and get it done pretty much right away.
They're all ready pretty sure it's pneumonia again.
The big question is if it is something that has just laid dorment for
a few months or if it is a new case. And for either option... WHY?

So I've pretty much been flat on my back all weekend, sleeping, drinking as much as I can, taking an army of pills.... and I have to go to work tomorrow.  There is no way I can miss the other important concert
week of the year. I don't really know how in the world I'll do it,
but there really is no choice.
grumble grumble grumble (cough) grumble.

Why is my timing like this? It's seriously messing with my mind and making me crazy and paraniod.

(and why is the spacing off? Blogger is being screwy.) Grr.

Snowflakes

Is my school the only one that doesn't have school today? It seems that everyone else has delayed openings. I feel a little guilty about it... but not so guilty that I won't enjoy it! :)

Road Trip?

Round trip drive to one school I work in - 32 miles.

Round trip drive to another school I work in - 40 miles.

Driving forth and back to each place in one day - 72 miles.

At $2.039/gallon, considering the mileage my car gets... (whir, whir, click, whir)... $8.64

Plus tolls on the Garden State Parkway for both trips... $2.90

Total, $11.54 and about 2 hours of time.

Isn't work fun?

People are dumbheads.

You tell me one thing to do, which you say my collegues are doing as well, then everyone gets up-in-arms, so I wait for everyone to confrence with you and other superiors to decide what I need to do. Then you tell me that I need to ask the other people what I should do. Yet you are in a higher position then them. And you also tell me that my collegues are not all doing the first thing... some are, and some are not.
So now I am in a very particularly tricky place. And I have no idea what to do, since you, the person who I am supposed to refer to when I have a question, is passing the buck.

GGGGGGGGGRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

As if my day has not been crappy enough.

stress. frustration. confusion. fear. anger. tiredness. disapointment. anxiety

two good things: today is payday. tomorrow at 3 it is the weekend.
