Snowflakes

Is my school the only one that doesn't have school today? It seems that everyone else has delayed openings. I feel a little guilty about it... but not so guilty that I won't enjoy it! :)

Woo Hoo! I'm Famous!

One of the blogs I enjoy checking in on is FunkyPancake. He takes lots of interesting pictures accross the pond in England, and I am a fan. One theme that comes up often on his blog are "Bollards" (orange traffic cones, for those of us in the US), and since then, Matt and I see them everywhere!

I took two pictures of a sad looking bollard near Matt's house a while back, and emailed it to FunkyPancake. He posted them! Go and see! (posted on 2/24) :)

Six Bits of Wierdness

I was tagged by Becky to post 6 wierd things about myself. Here goes!

1. Besides being able to roll my tongue, I can fold it in four.

2. I can't stand it when people pee on the public restroom seats and don't clean up after themselves.

3. I didn't get my ears pierced until I was 18.

4. There is a television producer with the same name as me. (Too bad I don't have her bank account!)

5. In college, I lived in an apartment with a girl who has the exact same birthday as I do. (not just the date, but the exact day!)

6. When I was four or five, I spent a few weeks claiming to be "Annie," to the point that I would not respond to my real name! I even referred to my dad as Daddy Warbucks and my mom as Miss Grace!

I will tag the following six people....
Kate, Jenn, Marisa, Jenny, Courtney and Matt.

Bittersweet.

From Valentine's D...
This Valentine's Day was bittersweet... unfortunately, my Grandfather passed away that night. He lived a long, good life and was an amazingly strong person. I'll miss him, of course, but I know that he is happier and peaceful now. I'll be gone for a few days and am not sure if I'll post or not while I'm in Florida, but I'd appreciate any prayers and good thoughts for our family, especially for my Grandma. Thanks.

Valentine's Day Celebration

For Valentine's Day, I made Matt his "February Cookie of the Month" - Carrot Cake Cupcakes (He got a homemade "C.O.M. Club" from me for Christmas, which included cake and brownies and the like.). With the snow day, I was able to take time to make the frosting and do some decorating. They turned out pretty well, I think!

We ended up having a very quiet V-Day celebration. We got takeout from the really great local Italian place and had a picnic on my floor and just hung out, which was good.

Today, a FedEx truck brought a box for me at school... with beautiful roses and chocolates! :) They were delayed a day due to the school being closed - but that doesn't matter in the least, as they are very lovely!

Bon Voyage, Mrs. Binder!

My friend Jenny had a memorable Valentine's Day this year - not only was it the first V-Day of her married life, but also the day she got on a plane and moved to Italy to be with Will! These are pics from her going-away party this past Sunday.

I'll miss you, Jenny! Keep in touch and be sure to call me when you're visiting in April!!! :) You rock my socks!

Happy Valentine's Day!

Wishing everyone a Happy Valentine's Day!
(or as the kids call it, Valentimes Day!)

I even got a Valentine from work... No school today! Yippee! Hope you all have a wonderful day... for most of us, it's a crummy day outside - be sure to snuggle inside with your sweetie!

Road Trip?

Round trip drive to one school I work in - 32 miles.

Round trip drive to another school I work in - 40 miles.

Driving forth and back to each place in one day - 72 miles.

At $2.039/gallon, considering the mileage my car gets... (whir, whir, click, whir)... $8.64

Plus tolls on the Garden State Parkway for both trips... $2.90

Total, $11.54 and about 2 hours of time.

Isn't work fun?

Procrastination

You Are 40% Normal

While some of your behavior is quite normal...
Other things you do are downright strange
You've got a little of your freak going on
But you mostly keep your weirdness to yourself

Arty Kid

Whether you were a drama freak or an emo poet, you definitely were expressive and unique.

You're probably a little less weird these days - but even more talented!

You Should Go to Grad School

Grad school definitely isn't for everyone, but it looks like it's for you.
You have a pretty good idea of what you want to study - and how it will further your career.
So go ahead and go for it! You're ready to be a PhD.

People are dumbheads.

You tell me one thing to do, which you say my collegues are doing as well, then everyone gets up-in-arms, so I wait for everyone to confrence with you and other superiors to decide what I need to do. Then you tell me that I need to ask the other people what I should do. Yet you are in a higher position then them. And you also tell me that my collegues are not all doing the first thing... some are, and some are not.
So now I am in a very particularly tricky place. And I have no idea what to do, since you, the person who I am supposed to refer to when I have a question, is passing the buck.

GGGGGGGGGRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

As if my day has not been crappy enough.

Classic Film Afternoon

In the town of West Orange, New Jersey, they have a Classic Film Festival. We went to see Psycho last year (sponsored by Wierd NJ) and it was fantastic - Hitchcock was made for the big screen - it was much scarier when it was big and in the dark!

Today was the only showing of Rear Window, a favorite. Grace Kelly, James Stewart - it's a classic, and so suspenseful. It, too, was amazing on the big screen! It is even more exciting. There was an intro and post-film discussion led by a film professor from the University of the Arts in Philadelphia. The added aspect of the intellectual discussion made the afternoon more enjoyable - and there was a gentleman there who owns the Mark Cross overnight case Grace Kelly uses in the movie!

It was a wonderful afternoon. For those of you who live in the area, you should check out the other movies and try to go! Let me know if you do - I might want to tag along! :)
