What the heck is my immune system doing?
It seems that I have been sick quite often of late. First, a midwinter cold. A few weeks ago, it was the vague stomach thing. At the end of last week, I started feeling really tired and losing my voice. I wrote it off at first - I'd been too busy and not getting enough sleep, on top of allergy season. But then I really started to feel awful and realized that it was bronchitis. I had to work until three on Saturday, too... a cold and rainy Saturday that was filled with a ton of customers. Bah! I went to bed when I got home and barely left it the next day. On Sunday I had a nice Matt-pillow to lean on, though, and got through to the doctor via telephone, who hooked me up with some strong antibiotics. So I am still weary and not completely myself, but at least I'm on the mend.
But really - what's been up with my immune system? I wonder if it's a byproduct of my allergy shots? Or am I just going through an weak-immune phase? I don't know, and it's frustrating! Bah.
But anyway, spring is popping up all around us, and although I might be allergic to it all, it is still beautiful and green and lovely. The flowers are blooming and trees are getting baby leaves and things are smelling earthy and fresh. Hopefully I'll be able to spend some time outside this week. The fresh air and sun will be good for me, even if it's all mental! :)

eyes... are... heavy... brain.... is.... all... fuzzzy...
Sometimes it really stinks to be a procrastinator.
Sure, you can get some great work accomplished since you thrive under pressure, but sometimes the pressure is just too much. Like right now. I was up until after midnight last night to prepare myself to be an ideal person today and, when it came down to the big sell, I feel that I was squashed like a bug.
True, I wasn't as ready as I should be. Yes, it's been a while since I did this kind of thing. But I came in, ready for the fight and got suckerpunched right away. Or at least that's how it felt.
Perhaps it was a test. I hope I passed.
Tomorrow? I do it again. Slightly different, bigger pond. Wish me luck....

The picture!
Look! Thanks to a tutorial from Peter, the picture of Becky's baby shower now is here for all to see! Going in opposite order of what is normally done, the one on the far left is me, the next is Becky (obviously the center of attention!) then Jill (who has the exact same date of birth as me!) and then Beth (another cool Gordon girl) and Angela (the only non-Gordonite, but she is married to one!) and then Jenny (similar name, different birthdate!)
I had loads of fun being up in Massachusetts for the day. So good to catch up with people. So many cute baby things for a very eagerly anticipated baby. Hurrah for fun events! :)
one good, one bad
Scenario: Driving in the car on Rte. 17 with Matt. Peter Cincotti singing Somewhere Over the Rainbow on the CD player. Look up into the early evening sky and what do I see? Two little bits of rainbow! Coincidence? I think not. :)
Scenario: Ants. Taking over my room. Why are they here? How do they get in? How do I get rid of them? They are so nasty. I don't keep food in here, so what's up?? Grr.

Is it April already?
I can't believe what a blog-slacker I have been this year. I aim to do better.... really. And I will start with this...
... well, not quite what I wanted to do. I wanted to upload a picture from Becky's baby shower (which was last weekend), but I must learn how to do it on this computer - I remember how to on a PC, but now on this Apple laptop I need to learn what's what. (Any suggestions/aids/advice?) For now, this link will have to do. It was a really fun day - great to see Becky looking so cute and pregnant and happy, visit with people I haven't seen in ages, eat really great food, chat and catch up, see a lot of really cute baby stuff, and try to take some pictures. (Peter, I tried. Really I did. I know they aren't great. Do I at least get some points for effort??)
Matt was sweet and took a ride up to Massachusetts with me for the day, spending a beautiful afternoon outside at a local state park with some lunch and a portable DVD player. Later, we went back to that park for a little hike before heading home - the hike should have been 1.5 miles, according to the map. We guess we went at least three miles. Now I know the importance of making sure to watch for the trail blazes!!
I actually called out of work today - on Saturday night, I woke up in the middle of the night and felt amazingly miserable - my back ached, I felt nauseous... it was not a fun scene. I ended up spending most of yesterday in bed, flat on my back, and subsequently called out of work today, which was good. I slept until eleven! I do feel better now - not 100%, but (unfortunately!) well enough to go to work again tomorrow. I was lucky to have a good caretaker this weekend - being that I was up at Matt's house when I was sick, he took good care of me and made me soup, rubbed my head and made sure I was warm and cuddled up in bed. Thank you, Soup!
Other than that, life has been flying by. I can't believe that it's already almost Easter! But more will have to be posted another day - we are trying to schedule and book a trip so that Matt can meet my grandparents at the end of the month. Off to hunt down decent airline fares.......
